Volume alone is not enough for a tank fabrication quotation. Two tanks with the same capacity can have different arrangements, connections and inspection requirements. The technical package should explain intended use, onboard interfaces and fabrication boundaries together.
1. Define volume together with arrangement
Provide the required volume and drawings showing available installation space. Define any internal divisions, supports and access openings alongside the external shape. Handling and onboard installation limits also need to be included in the scope review.
2. Identify fluid and material requirements
State the intended use, such as fuel tank, slop tank or expansion tank. Fluid, operating conditions, required material grade and specifications must be reviewed together. Aluminum or duplex suitability is not determined by the material name alone; engineering and conformity requirements must be defined by the project.
3. Separate connections, access and testing scope
Specify the sizes, locations and types of filling, discharge and other connections. Show the clear opening and access direction of manholes or maintenance covers. Inspection, leak testing and any class or customer approvals are separate requirements to agree before fabrication starts.
