A machined component’s appearance does not define its functional dimensions or acceptance requirements. A useful CNC or custom flange enquiry brings the required geometry, characteristics to inspect and delivery scope into one clear technical package.
1. Coordinate the drawing and model
Dimensioned drawings should show the current revision, units and functional datums. Supply any 3D model at the same revision. If the model and drawing differ, clarify which document takes precedence; missing dimensions should not be inferred from photographs.
2. Define the complete flange bolt pattern
Flange enquiries need outside and bore diameters, thickness and mating faces as well as bolt-circle diameter, hole count, hole diameter and angular orientation. The hole count in a catalog photograph is not a manufacturing standard. Identify the required standard and type, or the approved custom drawing.
3. Clarify material, finish and quantity
Material grade, blank supply, tolerances and surface requirements belong in the quotation scope. Distinguish visible appearance from measurable surface requirements. Include post-machining inspection, finishing or document requests alongside component quantities and the target delivery date.
